Acquisitions Manager (Independent Contractor): Oversee and monitor the staff on the editorial team. Distribute projects to editors. Track overall project progress, and manage, motivate and support editors.
Responsibilities:
- Report to Alice Saunders and provide progress reports as necessary.
- Serve as a liaison between Editors and clients
- Acquire manuscript queries from potential clients
- Distribute queries to editors and request estimate/quote
- Shepherd client manuscripts through the editing process to ensure that editors are on top of deadlines.
- Communicate management’s expectations to editors and hold accountable for performance and conduct.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year editorial work experience or equivalent within the publishing industry.
- Strong understanding and awareness of the literary industry.
- Prior experience managerial skills
- College degree or equivalent work experience
- All candidates should have an excellent command of the English language,
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently,
- Strong organizational and communication skills, together with enthusiasm, flexibility, and team spirit.
- Thorough and detail-oriented, with a high degree of self-discipline
- Proficiency with the following applications and software programs: Internet, email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to receive and send large email attachments in a timely fashion.
Independent Contractor Benefits:
- The editor enjoys the flexibility of choosing the hours during which he or she chooses to work.
- The editor will receive his or her own @tlpublishing.org email address.
- This position can be fulfilled remotely.
Pay:
- The pay will is tied directly to the project the editors work on. Therefore, compensation is based on the number of projects the editors complete.
- The Acquisitions Manager will receive 10% per project that the editors complete.
- Payments will be made through PayPal.
- All Clients pay TL Publishing Group and TL Publishing Group pays the Acquisitions Manager.
